Digital content owner (Learning & Development) - Manchester
Job Summary
We are looking for a visionary Digital Learning Design Lead to drive the digital design strategy of our learning experience offerings. This role requires strong thought leadership in the creation, curation, and delivery of impactful and innovative learning experiences that address knowledge, skill, performance, and behavioural gaps.
This position will oversee all aspects of branding, ensuring visual content quality and integrity, and will collaborate cross-functionally with other People Team Centres of Excellence (COEs) as well as external content, design, and delivery partners.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping global Learning & Development (L&D) initiatives by fostering strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors, all aligned with our L&D strategy and broader business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Content Governance & Centralization:
Create, organize, and maintain a centralized knowledge base for Talent Development digital content, including governance on quality, asset management, licensing, templates, and processes. Ensure all solutions prioritize learner experience, are scalable, measurable, and aligned with business needs.Stakeholder Collaboration:
Serve as the main point of contact for all L&D digital content. Liaise effectively with internal departments to support business growth, address new challenges, and reduce operational friction.Innovation & Strategy Leadership:
Lead the digital innovation strategy by identifying experimentation opportunities and enhancing creative capabilities. Ensure that all learning solutions reflect up-to-date design principles, market trends, and deliver strong learner value.Learning Experience Design:
Research, design, and develop engaging learning experiences that cater to varying abilities and learning styles. Curate and create content that is inclusive, impactful, and practical.Standards & Process Ownership:
Define and maintain standards, tools, and processes to ensure timely delivery of learning experiences. Measure engagement, impact, and adoption, and continuously improve learning products.Technology & Market Awareness:
Stay informed of emerging learning technologies and industry trends. Benchmark internal practices and systems against market standards to ensure continuous improvement and innovation.Thought Leadership & Innovation:
Champion new technologies and methodologies, demonstrating creative thinking and driving implementation based on business impact and qualitative/quantitative insights.Vendor & Budget Management:
Manage external digital content vendors — from sourcing and negotiation to commissioning and maintaining partnerships. Oversee related budgets and ensure alignment with business needs.Human-Centered Design:
Ensure all digital experiences are learner-centric, collaborating with internal and external partners to apply best practices in testing, engagement, and delivery.Team Leadership & Mentorship:
Lead, coach, and mentor team members in the effective use of digital content and tools. Support capability building across the broader team.Project Leadership:
Lead or contribute to project teams by fostering collaboration between SMEs, stakeholders, and team members to scale and deliver effective learning solutions on time.Continuous Development:
Proactively grow personal expertise in digital learning methodologies, tools, and trends. Benchmark and evolve internal practices to align with industry best practices.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experienceExperience:
5–8 years of advanced experience in digital learning design and content curationSpecialist Knowledge/Skills:
Strong expertise in learning design methodologies and modern learning technologies
Proven ability to design and deliver scalable learning solutions
Experience creating instructional materials (e.g., storyboards, scripts)
Excellent written and spoken English
Exceptional communication and influencing skills in complex, fast-paced environments
Proven leadership and coaching experience across multiple levels
Strong project management and organizational skills with great attention to detail
Commercial acumen and vendor management experience, including procurement collaboration
Ability to build and maintain relationships across all organizational levels
